Isle of Eigg

I approached Isle of Eigg with trepidation. We had been to several islands already, but Eigg was a bit more rugged starting with our accommodation--a bothy which had a wood-burning stove for the misty evenings, but also lacked indoor plumbing so a compost outhouse was to be our only toilet for several days. If that wasn't enough to make me nervous our cozy hut was also four miles from the harbour which boasted the only restaurant and grocer on the island, meaning we had to walk four miles to eat! Before we arrived I was honestly panicking, but after we settled into the bothy our first evening at the foot of a waterfall with a fire going, I started to feel more at home. The location was dreamy from the scenery of mountains and ferns, to the chickens and goats roaming nearby. It was remote, but cozy and by the end of our stay it was my favorite accommodation from the whole holiday. isle of eigg-1 isle of eigg-2 isle of eigg-3 isle of eigg-6 isle of eigg-7 isle of eigg-10 isle of eigg-9 isle of eigg-25-side isle of eigg-26 isle of eigg-22 isle of eigg-16 isle of eigg-1-5
