I approached Isle of Eigg with trepidation. We had been to several islands already, but Eigg was a bit more rugged starting with our accommodation--a bothy which had a wood-burning stove for the misty evenings, but also lacked indoor plumbing so a compost outhouse was to be our only toilet for several days. If that wasn't enough to make me nervous our cozy hut was also four miles from the harbour which boasted the only restaurant and grocer on the island, meaning we had to walk four miles to eat! Before we arrived I was honestly panicking, but after we settled into the bothy our first evening at the foot of a waterfall with a fire going, I started to feel more at home. The location was dreamy from the scenery of mountains and ferns, to the chickens and goats roaming nearby. It was remote, but cozy and by the end of our stay it was my favorite accommodation from the whole holiday.

Wow, I never see so much green here in Hong Kong. The views are amazing, and I love, love, love that first photos! ❤️❤️

So beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteHOLY MOSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Idk why that's my reaction to this haha but literally so rugged and beautiful, straight from an epic saga landscape! And you with that wee little sheep! Bless!
ReplyDeleteSounds and looks like heaven to me. Composting toilet is a small price to pay for a few days amidst all that beauty. As long as you can pack in a bottle or two of wine to go with that cosy fire.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! Looks like a dream!

This looks BEAUTIFUL! I hate being cold, but colder climates are the ones that call to me the most. Not really sure what to do about that LOL. That sounds like quite a unique part of your vacation - I would love to stay somewhere that rugged someday. And at least you're probably in great shape from all that walking lol.
