Greek Letters

These photographs by Ali Bosworth make me want a Greek vacation so bad. I want to return to Aegina and Santorini and Athens and to jump off of rocks into the sea again and lay in the sun and wander back to some old resort with chipped paint shutters--sunburnt and blissfully weary.

Limited World

I really enjoy the colors and mood in Julia Aumann's photographs. Simple moments seem magical when captured in film by the right eye.

Also, who wants to take a food road trip with me around the States, hmm?

Dream and Awake

I really adore these dreamy photographs of windswept shores and fields. The clothes are by Dream and Awake, a vintage store that breathes new life into old dresses and the photographs are by Eefje de Coninck.

Summer Loving

Sometimes I wish I lived in the 1930s or 40s, but then I remember nearly all the opportunities I have now would have been denied to me then and that there is no such thing as a golden era and what I really just want are more clothes from the 1930s and 40s. These photographs by Charles W. Cushman taken in the 1940s do make me long for summer days lounging by the water though.

Make Believe Sea

I'm not as adventuring as I ought to be, but one of my favorite summer activities is climbing trees. The make believe sea really captures the magic of summer and sunlight and green things in these wonderous photographs.

Hazy As A Dream

I've got a new photography crush on Edouard Plongeon; these shots for Lula magazine are especially dreamy. I just purchased a Polaroid camera and some film, so hopefully I'll be shooting some dreamy shots myself this spring and summer.

American Girl In Italy

Shot in 1951 this series by Ruth Orkin was an attempt to show what it was really like for a girl traveling alone. It's a striking set of photographs that ranges from funny to disturbing. While the model has spoken out and said she's was just having fun with the shots--many still find the first image an upsetting reminder of street harassment. Aside from that image it really does seem to be a wonderful adventure...

Though They Never Equal Stars In Size

Did you know fireflies communicate with each other through flashes? Sort of like Morse code. It's used primarily for mating, but some females will imitated another genus of firefly to attract males from the wrong genus for mating. Then when the male approaches she will devour him. Still, aren't these long exposure photographs of fireflies lovely?
