These pictures are only a few from the fifty vintage photographs taken by Philippe Halsman five decades ago. The subjects run the gamut from starlets, to authors, to royalty and politicians. While the people photographed are diverse, the idea that led to these images is the same: after the formal sessions were complete Halsman asked his subjects to jump. Many famous faces shed their usual public image in those few seconds for Halsman's camera and we are able to see the results.
