I used to unintentionally match my shoes or bag to my hair...now it's a bit more deliberate! Rather pleased these shoes match so well since they were acquired months before I went blue (or teal or whatever you want to call it). My hair also finally feels long enough to attempt to curl it a bit, although it took some digging to find my curling iron. I love pixie cuts with curl and wave to them but my hair is woefully straight so it never does anything so fun on its own. Anyway, just a fun little weekend outfit that highlights my hair a bit.

When I was younger and preparing to go to Japan a couple of friends teased me that I wanted to go because I dreamed of "being an anime character." It was just a joke at the time, but I must say with my blue hair somedays I do feel like an anime character...only with too small eyes. It was with that sense of fun that I couldn't resist this feline headband and pairing it with such a sweet vintage dress. The headband definitely takes the look off-kilter from my usual style, but I walked around with a smile on my face all day at how funny it was. The headband is not an everyday sort of accessory, but I will be getting a lot of wear out of this gingham dress this summer--it's too perfect.

One of my new sponsors

Stella McCartney's spring collection was inspired by "the sort of clothes a woman with a snake tattoo might wear." Ironically, much of the collection is light and airy embellished with a quirky mix of lips, matches, and hearts. Still, it is perhaps the neutral tones and clean silhouettes that echo that original inspiration while remaining fresh and light for summer.

The Valentino resort collection echoes the ease of the season. For day this means flat equestrian boots and chambray shift dresses with military and sailor details. It's the more evening pieces that really stand out in citrus bright hues of lace and macrame floral embroidery. My favorite is the monochromatic pink skirt suit with sculpted jacket--pretty enough for a modern Audrey.
Parbal Gurung aimed for American sportswear with couture touches and struck gold. A mix of modern and retro touches this collection is ladylike without erring into fussy territory.

It took me forever to find this scarf. It's an old scarf I "inherited" (ie borrowed with little intent to return) from my mother a few years ago and still enjoy wearing now and then--it's the lovely color combination that has me hooked. Still, between frequent moves and the small size of closets in old houses locating it this spring meant digging through several poorly marked boxes in the basement. Organization is such a pain when you're in the process of moving and indecisive, but laziness in the process of packing frequently comes back to bite you when you want to find something later...Anyway, it was obviously a fruitful hunt as I located said scarf and was able to wear it exactly as envisioned a few days later.

After years of debate, I went blue...I wanted blue hair since I was little but when I was younger and bolder it was against my parents' rules and when I was older I kept chickening out...what if it ruined my hair and what if I disliked how it looked? However, in the process of growing my hair out I suppose I got bored to the point of feeling fearless and decided to just go for it instead of getting a trim. Thomas was also very encouraging which was a positive push towards the change--it's always nice to have support when you're trying something new. Anyway, after all that drama and worry I really like the color and can foresee myself as an old "blue hair" for the indefinite future--it doesn't even startle me when I look in the mirror. Definitely worth whatever "risk" it is to mess with your hair.
